Sensemaking is new to most students and requires a new set of classroom norms, an understanding of modeling, and lots of teacher support.

These "Setting the Stage" materials are not explicitly part of the MBER-Bio/MBER-LE curriculum but they serve an important purpose in your classroom that you do not want to ignore. Here are the sets of lessons that three of our teachers use to begin the school year and set the stage for the modeling work students will be doing when engaged with MBER.
