Getting Started with MBER

Welcome to our site! We hope you are excited to dive into phenomenon-driven, model-building science explorations with your students. Here we present information that will help you to understand the MBER approach as well as the organization of the curricular resources. MBER is a set of curricular units, but it is as much a set of pedagogical commitments to support student agency, coherence (understanding WHY we are doing what we are doing) and a collective effort to make sense of puzzling phenomena by asking questions and developing, revising and then testing our models.

To better understand the approach, please check out the following pages:

To learn more about the year long sequence, visit these pages (as appropriate).

When you have wrapped your head around these items, return to the Year at a Glance page to explore the units, being certain to start your year with Setting the Stage for Success. (You may also want to learn more about How To Navigate a Model Triangle Page.)

Then come back to the MBER Essentials to explore the Guides and Resources, FAQ, and Teacher Toolkit. Need more support? Contact the MBER Team for professional learning opportunities.
